Monitoring Center

Our business revolves around the expertise of the monitoring center which has been providing professional monitoring since 1970. Located in Statesville, North Carolina Security-Central is one of the largest central stations in the country. currently monitoring hundreds of thousands of alarms through out the United States.

Their goal, as it was in 1970, remains to offer quality, personalized alarm monitoring services. Every step of the way, you can rest assured knowing your safety is in the hands of America's most professional central station with Security Central's response team.

Security-Central Operators

All employees at Security Central are bonded by the state of North Carolina in addition to other states across the country. Bonding includes a complete fingerprint and criminal record search. All this information is obtained and sent to the Alarm Licensing Board where it is processed by the SBI. The licensing board then reviews the findings and must approve all applicants before anyone is allowed to begin training at our facility. Any offenses other than traffic violations prohibit employment with our company.

After potential employees have successfully passed the bonding process, they are subjected to a drug screening test. All employees are randomly tested for drugs during their employment at Security Central. An applicant is now ready to begin training.

All new operators are trained by our resident certified Security Industry Association (SIA) and Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials-International, Inc. (APCO) instructor. (APCO certifies 911 dispatchers.) The first week of training, new operators spend 40 hours in a classroom setting.

They have access to a simulated central station, set up on a separate computer system, where each new operator practices his/her skills. This provides invaluable experience as the traffic flow, type of signals received, and calls are replicated from actual experiences occurring in the central station. The second week, these operators are placed in the central station with a qualified, experienced operator for supervised hands-on experience. The third week, the new operator is evaluated by the instructor to be certain all skills have been mastered.

Once a quarter, all central station supervisors and operators attend a mandatory refresher class. During each refresher, we review the latest technology at Security Central as well as review procedures and address any concerns that may have been expressed.

Quality Assurance

Many companies offer alarm monitoring. But, Security Central ensures you get the highest quality alarm response available in America. It means that your alarm system is monitored around the clock from our specially reinforced, fire resistant communication center. And it means you get the added protection of today's most advanced communication technology, backed up by two completely independent power supplies which ensure the prompt response to your alarm even in a total power failure.

The Underwriter's Laboratory and Factory Mutual approvals are some of the most stringent physical and operational acceptances to achieve. Security Central's central station is built around UL and FM's strict standards and is among the few central stations in the nation to achieve this.

Each and every year Security Central is re certified by UL and FM to continue assured compliance with their respective guidelines. Security Central is highly fault tolerant and engineered to rigorous standards that meet or exceed all requirements.

Just some of the items that contribute to their UL, FM and general operational guidelines are :

  • The facility is built to withstand 3 hours of direct fire from all sides, including the roof.
  • All access doors are steel fire rated and electronically controlled. Access of all personnel is limited and all entry and exit is logged.
  • Central station operators are monitored at all times by closed circuit cameras and video taped records are maintained.
  • Multiple path incoming toll-free and outgoing communications are backed further by dedicated local trunks. Communications systems within Security Central are redundant and are fully protected from electrical damage and outages.
  • All voice communications made by their operators in response to all signals and day to day operations are logged.
  • Training programs are conducted on an on-going basis for all operators. Both trainer and operators are SIA certified.
  • Employees are screened before employment and at various intervals during employment to assure that they remain drug free and maintain a clean criminal record.

Uninterruptible Power Systems

Security Central is backed by uninterruptible power systems and further backed up by redundant 45,000 watt natural gas generators. Each generator runs under load weekly to assure operability.
